City to Country Experience – Private Day Tour

Melbourne has a way of opening up quickly. One moment you’re in the middle of the city, walking its laneways and arcades, and not long after you’re out among vineyards, rolling hills and open space.

This day is about that contrast. Start in the CBD, take in the rhythm of the city, then head out to either the Yarra Valley or the Mornington Peninsula. Along the way, there’s time for good wine, thoughtful food, and the option to layer in wildlife, produce or a slower stop between tastings.

It’s a full day, but it never feels rushed. Just a natural shift from city to region, shaped around what you want to see more of.

Suggested but highly flexible itinerary:

The day begins in the CBD, where you take some time to settle into the city. Wander through a network of laneways and heritage arcades, stop for a coffee, and take in the street art that sits alongside Melbourne’s older architecture. It’s an easy, unhurried introduction that gives you a feel for the city before heading further afield.

From here, the day can take you in one of two directions, depending on your mood and what you’re looking to get out of it. Both are within easy reach of Melbourne, but they offer quite different experiences.

To the east, the Yarra Valley is all about established producers and a sense of history. You move between cellar doors that have helped shape the region, with a focus on cool-climate wines, particularly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The pace is easy, with time for proper tastings, a considered lunch, and the option to layer in something different along the way, whether that’s wildlife, art or a slower stop between vineyards.

Head south instead and you’ll reach the Mornington Peninsula. It feels more coastal in character, with smaller, often family-run wineries and a slightly looser rhythm to the day. Pinot Noir still leads the way, but there’s a broader mix of experiences to draw from. You might stop at a farm gate, a produce-driven vineyard, or take in the coastline between tastings. It’s less about structure and more about following the day as it unfolds.

Both options are shaped around your preferences. We’ll guide the direction, but the balance of tastings, food and pace is yours to set.
