Welcome to Localing. Below you’ll find thoughtful answers to some of the questions we’re most often asked, by discerning travellers, trusted travel advisors, and corporate clients alike. This isn’t a traditional tour company. It’s something far more personal, meaningful, and quietly luxurious.


What is Localing?

Localing is a private touring company creating exceptional, tailor-made experiences throughout Australia. Every itinerary is personalised, flexible, and our guests’ interests make up an important part of the experience. Think of us as trusted (and charming) locals, with the expertise and connections to help you experience our country through its most captivating stories, places, and people.

Who are Localing’s guides?

We call our guides “hosts,” and we have over 70 of them across the country. This incredibly diverse group are exceptional company first. If we’re not excited to spend the day with them from the minute we meet, they’re not a good fit. You might be hosted by a 30-year-old student born and raised in Melbourne or a 60-year-old history teacher who moved to Sydney in the early 2000s. All of us are passionate, informed, and well-connected, and we focus as much on the soft skills of what we call “Australian hospitality” as we do on service and knowledge.

What makes Localing different?

Our travellers are curious, well-travelled, and thoughtful. They’re not looking for a checklist or a cookie-cutter tour. What we offer is access, insight, and connection—something you couldn’t find without us. We design for people who value quality and creativity, who want to experience the best of a place without unnecessary fuss.

We work with incredible hosts and like-minded small businesses—chefs, artists, winemakers, naturalists, historians—people we’ve known for years. Our version of luxury is about meaning and memory, not gold taps. You’ll leave with more than great photos. You’ll leave changed.

What kinds of experiences do you offer?

Our scope is broad. We cover vibrant cities, remote coastlines, ancient rainforests, and everything in between. From laneway culture and local art to outback adventures and wine-soaked weekends, we design journeys around what’s most meaningful to you. We’re also proud to offer unique Indigenous experiences, local tastemaker encounters, and access to cultural talent that’s truly world-class.

Where do you operate?

We’re based in Melbourne and operate across Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and Byron Bay. We have our own local team in each of these regions that we’ve built and trained from the ground up. In places where we don’t currently operate, we work closely with long-standing partners we know and trust—people who share our values and guest-first ethos. We’re also happy to collaborate with your DMC or help recommend one we know well to plan a seamless broader Australian itinerary.

Do you offer fixed tours or itineraries?

Not exactly. We have an extensive portfolio of suggested itineraries. These are well-loved classic routes and experiences, but every journey is tailored—whether months in advance or shaped organically on the day with your host. Flexibility and personalisation are part of our DNA.

Who do you work with?

We work with luxury hotels, boutique travel advisors, high-end DMCs, corporate groups, and direct guests from around the world. Many of our partnerships span years. We understand what’s expected at this level—and how to consistently exceed it.

What’s included in a Localing experience?

All inclusions and exclusions are clearly outlined during the proposal and booking process.

Can you accommodate mobility or accessibility needs?

Yes. We welcome all travellers and will always do our best to accommodate guests with mobility or accessibility considerations. Please let us know any special requirements in advance so we can tailor the experience accordingly and ensure everyone is comfortable and safe.

How do you handle dietary needs or special requests?

We’re highly attentive to dietary requirements, allergies, religious considerations, and personal preferences. From gluten-free fine dining to kosher-friendly options, we take care to make every detail feel easy and inclusive.

How do I book?

You can book directly with our team via our website, by phone, or by email. We’ll be in touch personally to learn more about what you’re hoping for and begin curating your experience from there.

What’s your cancellation policy?

  • More than 30 days before the experience: Full refund, minus unrecoverable costs
  • 15–30 days: 50% refund (unless otherwise agreed)
  • Less than 15 days: Non-refundable

That said, we always try to be fair and accommodating when things change unexpectedly.

How quickly will you respond to enquiries?

  • You’ll usually hear back from us within a few hours
  • Full proposals typically follow within 24–36 hours if it’s something a bit more complicated
  • For urgent requests, flag in the subject line and we’ll prioritise accordingly

We’re deeply local but globally attuned. We care about showing our regions at their absolute best, supporting small businesses, keeping money in communities, and ensuring each experience reflects what’s truly travel-worthy.

We don’t do gratuitous glitz or “luxury” for its own sake. We focus on access, storytelling, and just a little magic. A vineyard lunch with the winemaker. A quiet walk through Country with a respected Aboriginal elder. A private gallery visit guided by the artist. These are the moments we seek out and share; moments worth travelling for.
