Southern Highlands – Private Day Tour

Duration: 11 hours
No. of Guests: 1 to 10
Languages: Available in English, Spanish, French, German (others by request)

Rolling green hills, dramatic waterfalls and storybook towns. The Southern Highlands offer a quieter kind of beauty. This full-day escape is all about fresh country air, local flavour and connecting with the land and its people. With options for bushwalks, scenic lookouts, and time to explore charming villages, the day is shaped entirely around you. Whether you’re up for a hike or happy to wander with coffee in hand, this is country New South Wales at its most welcoming.

Suggested but highly flexible itinerary:

Your Localing host will pick you up from your city hotel at 7.30am for a relaxed drive south. It’s about 90 minutes to the Southern Highlands, with time along the way to get to know each other and chat through the day’s plans.

First stop is Berrima, a historic colonial village with heritage buildings, quiet streets and a few great spots to grab coffee and stretch your legs.

From here, we may choose to visit a working farm near Fitzroy Falls. It’s a proper country property with Highland cattle, chooks, horses and working dogs, and plenty of space to explore. Morning tea is served by a private billabong with billy tea, damper or homemade muffins. There’s time to meet the animals, enjoy the scenery and take in the slower rhythm of farm life.

Next, you’ll head into the bush for a short walk to one of the region’s most impressive waterfalls. Depending on your preference, this might be a gentle trail to a lookout or a more adventurous walk along a quieter track. In summer, there’s even the option for a swim.

Lunch is in a nearby village where a local café serves up seasonal fare and excellent coffee. You’ll have time to stroll the main street and take in the gardens and country charm.

The afternoon may wrap up with a visit to a cool-climate vineyard to taste regional wines and share a cheese board by the fire or under the trees. Then it’s a relaxed drive back to Sydney, arriving in the early evening feeling refreshed and reconnected with nature.
