On this elevated escape from Sydney, you’ll explore the valley through the eyes (and palate) of a local sommelier. This is the Hunter at its most personal – rare wines, private tastings, and slow conversations over good food in beautiful places.

Suggested but highly flexible itinerary:

Your Localing host will collect you from your Sydney accommodation at 7:30 AM for the drive north to the Hunter Valley. As the city falls away, the road winds through rolling farmland and into the heart of Australia’s most historic wine region.

On arrival, you’ll meet your sommelier – a charismatic local with no ties to a single winery and plenty of insight to share. For the next few hours, he’ll guide you through a series of premium tastings and exclusive experiences tailored to your palate.

Begin at Keith Tulloch Wines, where you’ll enjoy behind-the-scenes access to the cellar and winery. This private tasting offers a deeper dive into the winemaking process, with limited releases and back vintages on pour.

Then, settle in for a rare tasting experience featuring seven museum wines, each paired with handmade chocolate or local artisan cheese. With help from the Le Nez du Vin aroma kit, your sommelier will help you decode the language of wine – colour, aroma, body – in a way that’s equal parts relaxed and fascinating.
Linger over a gourmet winery lunch, paired with a glass or two of your favourites so far.

The afternoon is yours. Drop into a boutique cellar door, take a stroll through the vines, or spot some wildlife or maybe hit some balls at a driving range. Your host can tailor the final stretch to suit your style before the drive back to Sydney.
