Hobart Eat & Art – Private Day Tour

Duration: 8-hours
No. of Guests: 1-7

A city experience with a dash of country charm. Get acquainted with Hobart’s fascinating history and local life, backstreets, galleries, markets and street eats. Head to The Agrarian Kitchen for a sensational meal and a tour of the fabulous surrounds and finish with a visit to the peerless MONA. It’s best to explore the museum at your own pace and return to downtown via a wonderful scenic ferry.

Suggested but highly flexible itinerary:
Be picked up from your hotel at 9 am by your expert Localing host in a luxury vehicle with bottled water, local treats and in-car wi-fi. Spend the morning getting acquainted with the city through the eyes of a well-informed and connected local host.

Visit private galleries, backstreet cafes and popular local haunts with the opportunity to go behind the scenes with the makers. These maker-led experiences can be personalised to suit your tastes – Federal Chocolate, Zimmer Coffee, Sullivan’s Cove Whisky, Cascade Brewery – we can make it happen.

Wander the historic backstreets and waterfront area of Salamanca and Battery Point. Hear about curious characters from Hobart’s past and present who have helped to shape this eclectic and culturally rich regional capital.

Finish the morning with an optional visit to the top of Kunanyi (Mount Wellington) for a spectacular birds-eye-view of Southern Tasmania (additional cost).

A short drive from the city, in charming, country surrounds, is the destination restaurant and organic farm, The Agrarian Kitchen. Be taken on a hosted tour of the grounds and kitchens, meet the chef and enjoy a sensational two-course meal of seasonal, local-produce with paired wines (additional cost).

Spend the afternoon exploring one of the city’s most iconic attractions at your own pace. David Walsh’s MONA has helped to redefine Tasmania to a generation of Australians and its experimental, boundary-pushing exhibitions belong on every visitor’s list. Choose to have your host accompany you through the exhibition or explore MONA at your own pace. Special experiences and temporary exhibitions often require pre-booking. A MONA art concierge can be arranged if required.

Return to the city via one of MONA’s very own, purpose-built ferries. There are no bad seats on these colourful, sea-faring artworks but we’ve got you riding in style in the aptly-dubbed ‘Posh Pit’ (additional cost).

The walk from the ferry to most of Hobart’s best hotels is under five minutes. Please advise if you would prefer to have a host meet you on arrival to see you back to your hotel safely.
