Suggested but highly flexible itinerary:

Set off from Brisbane for a relaxed drive through farmland and forest as your host shares stories and insights along the way. There’s time for spontaneous stops and a coffee among the hills, perhaps at a plantation café where beans are grown and roasted on site. Continue on to one of the region’s spectacular lookouts for sweeping views across the volcanic peaks.

Depending on your interests and energy levels, your host can tailor the day to include short scenic walks through rainforest and native bushland. The Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is a favourite, offering peaceful forest paths and extraordinary views of the mountains framed by subtropical canopy.

By midday, unwind over a long lunch at a hinterland restaurant or café showcasing regional produce and relaxed country hospitality.
